Interview 1: Family
friend who was a recent college student
My family
friend expressed in her interview how style was not what she primarily focused
on when choosing a product that would strongly benefit her. As a former college
student who brought their car up to Gainesville she saw the positive impact my
service of a college student-run organization focusing on problems most students
don’t think about was great. She believes one of these organizations should
already exist and when it comes to my service, price is not a big factor because
it focuses more on communication and movement. She is most likely to stay
updated with the services I provide online and through social media. What
matters most to her when thinking about the “rightness” of the project is knowing
this is going to help college students now with an issue she wasn’t able to be
helped with in the past.
Interview 2:
Roommate with a car
My roommate
finds importance in both the quality and the style of the service. She explained
to me how although it’s a student service that most if not all students what to
receive, it needs to catch everyone’s attention. People care about their reputations
and what they’re involved with on campus and as a user of my service she would
want to make sure the service is trendy and actually gets the job done. Like in
my previous interview, she stated how price wouldn’t be an issue with my
service but how quality and action mean the most to her. As a car owner herself
who lives in an apartment complex near campus and pays an expensive car fee,
she believes what will help her determine if the purchase was a good idea would
be if she starts seeing change at her apartment complex regarding parking fees
for a start.
Interview 3: My
business mentor who lives in my apartment complex
My mentor who
lives in my apartment complex near campus but does not have a car herself, thinks
price matters the most, with quality right next to it. She expressed how as a
college student, most of us are on a budget and pay for many of our own things.
She believes anything she pays for is an investment regarding weather something
tastes good, works, cleans well etc. Although a membership for a student-run
organization or a $2 app would not be that expensive and doesn’t sound like
much, every dollar counts. If a college student purchases something and it doesn’t
meet the needs that it was expected to, it leads to disappointment. Someone could
buy themselves Starbucks with $3, which is true! What helps her determine if
the purchase was a good idea or a bad idea is whether or not change is occurring.
Of course, with the idea and service I came up with, she understands that expensive
parking fees for apartment complexes near campus will not be taken away
immediately, but if they begin to be lowered or alternatives rise for those who
can’t afford it, then she would consider it a good purchase.
Conclusions:
Based on my
interviews, I can conclude that the idea I have come up with serves a productive
purpose, however much work, effort, and communication needs to be implemented
in order for my service to be successful. From what I attained, quality seems
to be the most important factor to most people because customers want to feel
comfortable and safe with what they have purchased. Overall, what helps a
purchase decision is how well you promote your product or service that they
will be convinced to purchase it. Furthermore, if they purchase it they better
see results or change happening because if not they will regret the purchase.

ReplyDeletei thoroughly enjoyed your focus on the feasibility aspect of your product purchase decision. additionally it is a strong point to focus on the appeal and functionality with college students seeing that many students are frugal and have to cover costs, sometimes by themselves.

ReplyDeleteI agree with many aspects of your post. First, I can agree with both your choice of people that you interviewed and many of the things that they said. Looking at both people with and without cars as well as people that have experience in Gainesville as well as someone who you look up to from a business perspective gives you a well-rounded pool of answers that can give many different perspectives. Beyond that, your point of making sure that the money they spend is well-worth it is something that I can get behind. As someone who tries my hardest to not waste money, anything that I spend money on and later feel that I was not given a good return on my dollar will be something that I try to avoid in the future.
