27A - Reading Reflection No.3
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, Carol Dweck
1. The general theme of the book was about how our mindset is how we view our qualities and characteristics. Overall, Sweck compares a fixed mindset, that our qualities are carved in stone, with a growth mindset, that our basic qualities are things you can cultivate through effort.
2. I believe this book connected and enhanced with what I am learning in this course because throughout all the assigments we need to apply thinking like an entrepreneur which all revolves around our mindset. The different mindsets we can come across affects our behavior and actions.
3. If I had to design an exercise for this class based on this book it would involve doing a multiple choice test about different mindsets and how people would react to certain situations. Depending on the final answers, it would determine what style mindset the person has.
4. My biggest surprise in reading the book was that one small belief can make a big influence on your mindset and how you apply that to your daily lives. I think it's common to think that only the biggest beliefs are those that affect our entreprenurial success, however this isn't the case.
dear ciara,
ReplyDeletei thoroughly enjoyed your analysis of the well written novel the new psychology of success by Carol Dweck. In your analysis i enjoyed how you spent time to mention that one should focus on the small beliefs one holds and how they may have a large affect on the mindset one holds. even on a day to day lifestyle you would be affected by even the slightest radical belief.
Ciara,
ReplyDeleteI can see the benefits of having a test to determine your mindset as a portion of this course. While this would simply be something that was a completion grade with no right or wrong answers, it is also something that many people would find interesting, myself included. Learning about yourself is always something that I feel benefits you as a person, and would also benefit all of us as entrepreneurs. Did we have an accurate view of ourself going in, or did we think too highly or low of ourself? This can be important.
